Aluminium alloy 2014A is very similar in characteristics to 2014. See chemical composition for difference. It is a strong alloy and is easy to machine in some tempers and strong when heat treated. It's corrosion resistance isn't too good, so is often hard anodised for this purpose.
Alloy 2014A as 2014 are commonly used for aerospace components and fittings due to its high strength. Other applications include; military vehicles, bridges, weapons manufacture and structural applications.
Aerospace materials are covered by the āLā series of British standards.
